Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, AIA Myanmar has been protecting families with enhanced coverage. With the recent COVID-19 wave we would like to assure you we continue to be together with the people of Myanmar during these challenging times, and are pleased to announce our “Together with Myanmar” COVID-19 program.
AIA Myanmar’s “Together with Myanmar” program (the “Program”) is a special program introduced to provide additional financial support to customers and their loved ones impacted by COVID-19.
As part of this Program, AIA Myanmar through its CSR fund will provide additional financial support to all existing and new customers that have been hospitalized in the ICU or unfortunately passes away, both as a result of COVID-19 diagnosis.
Program Eligibility
Benefits are available for all AIA Myanmar products, which include Universal Life, Short Term Endowment, Education Life, Health Insurance, Group Life, Personal Accident, Individual One Health Solution and Group One Health Solution.
Program Benefits

Program Period
For example, for policy with issue date of 15 April 2022, complimentary Covid-19 benefit would be available until 15 July 2022; subject to a 14-day Waiting Period until 28 April 2022. Policy issued 1 June 2022 onwards would not be eligible for the Program benefits.
1. ‘COVID-19’ means confirmed Novel Coronavirus cases as defined by the World Health Organisation.
2. Benefits under this Program are applicable only to life assured of AIA Myanmar policies.
3. To be eligible for the Program benefits, the policy must be in-force at the time of diagnosis of COVID-19.
4. "Waiting Period” is defined as period of 14 days from issue date for a new policy issued during the Program Period and/ or 14 days from reinstatement date for a lapsed policy.
5. Benefits will not be paid if the life assured’s COVID-19 diagnosis or signs and symptoms appeared before, or during the Waiting Period.
6. For customers that purchase a new policy during the Program Period, the additional complimentary Covid-19 benefits are available only if the AIA Myanmar consent letter is signed by the customer.
7. ICU and/or death benefit can only be paid once per life assured individual and for only one policy, regardless of number of policies the life assured has with AIA Myanmar. Life assured having multiple in-force policies must indicate the product and the policy number they wish to claim from.
8. In the event both ICU and death benefits are claimable, the death benefit payable shall be deducted from any ICU benefit paid.
9. ICU and death benefits shall be paid to the existing policy beneficiary.
10. COVID-19 benefits under the Program are complimentary from AIA Myanmar and are non-contractual. We reserve the right to discontinue or amend the Terms and Conditions of this Program at any time, without giving prior notice. Decision of AIA Myanmar concerning these Terms and Conditions are final.
11. AIA Myanmar at its sole discretion may decide to extend the benefits under the Program beyond the Program Period.
12. Completed claims documents must be submitted by 30 September 2022.
13. At a minimum, documents required to be submitted to claim Program benefits are outlined below:
I. For life assured hospitalized in the ICU as a result of testing positive for COVID-19, mandatory documents required are

II. For life assured death as a result of testing positive for COVID-19, mandatory documents required are

III. For life assured hospitalized in the ICU and subsequent death, both as a result of testing positive for COVID-19, mandatory documents required are

14. COVID-19 diagnosis must always be supported by a positive laboratory test report from a Ministry of Health and Sports (MoHS) recognized/ approved hospital or clinic in Myanmar or a local government authority for customers outside of Myanmar, and must always be duly certified by an authorized doctor.
15. ICU Medical Records must mention date of admission to ICU, and must include details on types of treatment and prescription. Medical Records must be issued by the hospital and duly signed by the authorized doctor with details of doctor’s name and registration number (SAMA No.) with the seal chop of the doctor.
16. Death Certificate must cite COVID-19 being the cause of death, and be issued by the local authority (MoHS)/authorized hospitals in Myanmar. If a customer is unable to provide the death certificate, all documents below would be required to validate cause of death:
a. Burial/Cremation Certificate (must cite COVID-19 as the cause of death)
b. Recommendation Letter from Treating Authorized Doctor/Company (Hospital or Clinic)/Local Authority, particularly Ward Administration Office and Department of Public Health under MoHS. (must include the information such as letterhead (if company), seal chop and cite COVID-19 as the cause of death)
c. Funeral Invitation
17. We may also request for further documents or proof for claim evaluation, as required post initial assessment of claim documents submitted.
18. AIA Myanmar reserves the right to not process the claim and make any payment if the required information is not sufficient and consistent with the information shared above. Final decision on disputed claims will be at the sole discretion of AIA Myanmar.
